Florida Healthy Beaches Program

Program History

Florida's beach water sampling program began in 1998 with five coastal counties monitoring for enterococci bacteria under a grant-funded pilot program. In 1999, the number of counties participating increased to 10, with an 11th county (Monroe and the Florida Keys) added in March 2000.  This initial beach sampling program extended through July 2000.  The map below shows the counties involved in the initial program.  Clicking on a county will link to a page containing their sampling history for the time that they participated.
